Lots of new things happening at Core Thirty Pilates in the next few months! One of those is having an active blog to provide information and inspiration to our fabulous clients at Core Thirty Pilates and those who are considering joining us!
While Lindsay blogs about Pilates from the point of view of a Pilates studio owner and trainer, I will offer insight on the art of “staying neutral” from the view of a newbie.
Who am I? My name is Brooke Shambley, and I am joining Core Thirty Pilates as the Office and Social Media Manager. While I love the concept of Pilates, I haven’t had the opportunity to join a studio until now. This is going to be an exciting adventure!
I hope you will join Lindsay and I as we begin our adventures in Core Thirty blogging! Leave us comments, and by all means, ask questions!
We hope to see you in the studio soon!
Pilates: A New Experience
As I mentioned before, Pilates is a pretty new experience for me. My cousin is a Pilates instructor and gave me a quick example of how to stand up straight, but besides that my only experience with Pilates has been on the Wii (and frankly . . . that doesn’t count).
Last Wednesday, I was able to come to Lindsay’s Sculpt class. It’s a 30 minute class, so it was easy to fit into my schedule. While I tried to act cool, I was a little nervous about getting on the reformer. I could just imagine loosing my balance and falling off the side!
Sculpt Class, Reformer, Mirrors, oh my! 😉
I did not fall off the side and I did manage to keep my cool. Since it was my first time at the studio, I needed to focus on Lindsay, take a peek at the other gal on the reformer, and then get myself into position, but that was easily done. I’m sure I didn’t have the exact right form at times and I will be able to perfect my form in private lessons.
As we worked out, I was pleased to discover that Pilates helps your muscles to contract, but the challenge is so balanced. Unlike when I work out at home or do a million sit-ups just trying to keep fit, I didn’t have any muscles that were just aching. It was a very spread out and very evenly distributed workout.
